History and Mission
The Chi Alumnus Chapter (Los Paladines), founded in July 2013, is a professional association for Spanish language and culture for alumni members of the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi, and is sanctioned by the National Executive Committee of the same. This alumnus chapter is also formally affiliated with the award-winning Chi Chapter of the University of South Carolina. This alumnus chapter marks the first such endeavor since 1956 when a branch of the Beta Eta Chapter formed its alumnus chapter, which is no longer in existence.
The goals of the Chi Alumnus Chapter follow Sigma Delta Pi's national by-laws and apply to graduate members of the Society:

- To honor those who attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking peoples;
- To honor those who have made the Hispanic contributions to modern culture better known in the English-speaking world;
- To encourage college graduates to acquire a greater interest in and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture;
- To foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech;
- To serve its membership in ways which will contribute to the attainment of the goals and ideals of this chapter.
